School Items:

With winter storms upon our area, this is a great time to make sure your child's "comfort kit" is ready and available in their classroom. These comfort kits can play a key role when situations arise. If you have not sent in your child's kit, here is a reminder of what should be included:

· a pair of gloves or mittens
· a hat
· a pair of warm socks
· Skittles or other similar treat
· small flashlight with batteries
· note from parents telling your child to follow the instructions from adults and that you will be there to pick them up soon
· a picture of your family

Include all of the above in a gallon size Ziploc bag with your child's name on it and they will be ready when the need arises. If you have already turned in your child's kit and would like to contribute towards another child's, just send in a kit with your child and their teacher will make sure it goes where needed. Watch this newsletter for future safety updates and ways Westgate and the PSO are working together to ensure the welfare of every Westgate child.

What Did You Do at School Today?

Every day parents ask their children what they did at school. Every day students answer, "Oh, nothing." Try asking this question to get real answers.

• What was something nice you said to a friend today?
• What did you do in math?
• What good book did your teacher read to you today?
• Who did you play with today?
• What did you write about today?
• What was your favorite part of the day?
• How are you going to make tomorrow even better?
• What centers did you go to?

Clothes For Kids is a non-profit organization set-up to provide two wardrobes a year for each South Snohomish child whose family qualifies for free or reduced lunch in the Edmonds School District. If you are in need of their services, just go to the main office of your school. For Westgate parents that would be our front office. Get a slip showing that you qualify. Bring it to Clothes For Kids to pick out some clothes. Click here for more information and their hours.
