The District shall maintain a program that provides for
the disposal of downed timber located on District property. The program
will include, but not be limited to, the following elements:
- Maintaining a list of individuals interested in obtaining the downed
timber for personal uses (e.g., firewood, woodworking).
- Contacting interested individuals when downed timber, the fair market
value of which, in the reasonable estimates of the District's Planning
and Property Management, is less than the cost of removal.
- Requiring interested individuals to sign a release that (i) releases
the District from any liability associated with the downed timber and
(ii) prevents the interested individual from using methods of removal
that have the potential for harming both persons and property (e.g.,
axes, chainsaws, circular saws).
