Edmonds School District No. 15
8200 - EQUAL EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY |
Adopted Revised |
The District will work to provide equal educational opportunities and treatment for all students without regard to race, color, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, creed, ethnic origin or physical, mental, or sensory disability. All students should be able to learn in an environment that is free of bias and harassment, including sexual harassment. District educational programs, activities, curriculum, and services will help students develop a sense of worth and respect for the worth of others. Any District staff member (regardless of area of responsibility) who knows or has reason to believe that harassment of a student(s) is occurring must take immediate steps to see that the matter is addressed or reported. Such action must be taken whether or not the student(s) has reported the incident. Attempts will be made to resolve complaints of illegal discrimination or harassment informally, expeditiously and at the closest point of administrative responsibility to the alleged offense. In addition, the superintendent shall establish a complaint procedure that will provide for investigation and review by District officials other than those involved in the complaint. |
