4310-R1 - PROCEDURES FOR TRANSPORTATION OF STUDENTS IN PRIVATE VEHICLES

The superintendent or his/her designee may authorize students to be transported by private vehicle. When transportation by private vehicle is authorized the following conditions must be met:

  1. No students shall be transported by private vehicle without written permission from their parent or guardian.
  2. All drivers must possess a valid driver's license.
  3. Vehicles must be insured against liability rising out of bodily injury and property damage.
  4. Vehicles must be equipped with one seat belt per passenger.
  5. All drivers of private vehicles used to transport students must have a completed driver authorization form on file with the building principal.
  6. Students may be authorized to drive private vehicles to transport other students only when no other transportation or drivers are available.
  7. Student driver must have written parental consent of his/her own parent/guardian to be authorized to drive other students.

District employees using their private vehicles for such authorized transportation will be reimbursed for expenses as provided in district policy 3500.
