The Character Trait for April is....Patience

This month we are emphasizing examples of Patience. Patience is being willing to wait calmy and take the time to understand the situation, to respond with appropriate action or reactions including kindness and understanding for others..

Patience is illustrated in our actions such as waiting quietly in line during library time, so that each student can check out the books. Patience also can be shown to a new student or staff member or volunteer: getting used to new faces, locations and rules can be pretty scary! It’s nice to have that consideration while adjusting.

Sometimes older people have trouble remembering every little detail. While it can be irritating having to repeat your name sometimes (using patience), it helps to remember they may really need the information and this may happen to us some day too!

Patience also means not giving up or Persistence. Though we cannot always be the first in everything, patience will – as a result – assure everyone will have their moment, or turn, whatever the case may be. Be patient with yourself and others, after all – we are all in this together!
