Parents and students should note that students enrolled in Business and Computer classes must earn 70% or better in order to receive credit. No 'D' grades are assigned.

All courses satisfy a Professional-Technical education graduation requirement. For the class of 2003 and beyond students must register for Keyboarding unless they have demonstrated keyboarding proficiency.

Keyboarding 1/Word Processing BUS 651
9,10,11,12 Semester
1 periods/.5 credit per semester
Required for class of 2003 and beyond. Students learn to touch type--a useful skill that relates to all curriculum areas. This course provides a foundation for students' personal, technical and academic future. Emphasis is on technique, speed and accuracy development. Students will learn Microsoft Word commands as well as the proper formatting of letters, reports, memorandums, tables and outlines. TECH PREP Course - College Credit available.

Accounting 1 & 2 BUS 100
10,11,12 Year
1 period / .5 credit per semester
Equivalency:  2 semesters = 1 semester of Math
Students learn to record business transactions, prepare financial statements, reconcile bank statements, and operate a computerized accounting system. These skills are applicable to all business and personal financial activities. This class is highly recommended for all students interested in a career in business or enrolled in the Marketing Program. TECH PREP Course - College Credit available.

Accounting 3 & 4 BUS 200
11,12 Year
1 period / .5 credit per semester
Equivalence:  2 semesters = 1 semester of Math
Prerequisite:  Accounting 1 & 2. The field of accounting offers greater career opportunities than ever before. This program prepares the student for entry level employment in accounting.   This course is highly recommended for students who have successfully completed Accounting 1 & 2 and are interested in a career in business. Students apply accounting theory to accounting transactions, case studies and simulated projects involving partnerships and corporations. TECH PREP Course - College Credit available.

Computer Applications 1 COM 100
9,10,11,12 Semester
1 period/.5 credit per semester
Students learn about computers and  computer terminology as well as how to use Voice Activated Software to implement into spreadsheets, word processing, and multi-media presentation software packages. This course is an ideal base for preparing students to use the computer in their academic, vocational, and professional life. It is a helpful course for students planning to enroll in Computer Programming, CISCO Networking , Computer Maintenance, Computer Applications 2, Accounting, Journalism, Math and Science.

Prerequisite:  Keyboarding 1 and  Computer Applications 1 or a comparable computer class. Students work with the more advanced concepts of applications software.
