Technology Related Classes at Brier Terrace Middle School

At Brier Terrace Middle School we have four career and technical education courses and programs available to all students. They are Sci-Ma-Tech, Computer Skills, TSA, and Tech reach.

 Sci-Ma-Tech is split between 8^th grade and 7^th. In 7^th grade Sci-Ma-tech we learn how to design and build towers that will release a ping pong ball before collapsing. Also we do many forms of problem solving. In 8^th grade Sci-Ma-Tech we learn how to build CO₂ cars like we do in TSA. Also we built Mousetrap cars that are cars that run only on mousetrap power. Now let’s talk about Computer skills.

In Computer skills we learn skills on a computer. One of the skills we learn is how to use Windows Movie maker. Also at the end of the trimester the kids learn how to design a music video. They also learn how to use other computer skills such as Voice Work, PowerPoint work, and how to animate. Unfortunately due to a lack of communications problems we did not get much information on this class.

Lastly we have TSA and Tech Reach they are basically the same thing. Except in Tech Reach they learn more about aviation than our TSA chapter. Also they get to come with us to the state conference. In TSA we prepare for the events, after regional of course, we are involved in at minimum two events. Also we focus part of the time on problem solving and structures.
