2007-08 AMS Volunteer Opportunities

The following are opportunities for volunteering at Alderwood Middle School during the 2007-08 school year:

Kris Freywald, Counselor, needs people to help with after school clubs.
Jack Seymour, Tech Ed Teacher, needs volunteers to help with woodworking class, which involves power tools.
Mary Hereford and Julie Gray-Dow need people to read with students and record fluency rates.

More to Come!

We are currently compiling a list of requests for volunteers for the school year 2007-08. Please check back soon for more opportunities.

Requests for volunteers come directly from the AMS staff. You can either contact them directory, or contact the volunteer coordinator, Jean Scott, and she will forward the information to the staff member(s). You can also contact Carol Byeman and Aaron Kaio, the NJHS advisors.

Your involvement is very much appreciated.

Most of the needs for help are during or right after school, but there are some that can be done later or on the weekend.

This is a great opportunity for you to participate in your child’s education, or for grandparents or retirees to help. Is there an older neighbor who is looking for something to do? AMS is always looking for those with special knowledge or skills to donate their time to our kids. Can you knit, paint, dance, or speak a foreign language? Have you traveled to several countries and have artifacts you could share? Any veterans interested in telling their stories? Do you act and/or quote Shakespeare? Most importantly, can you listen to a child read or give him/her encouragement in their studies? Let us know about any ways you can help. WE NEED YOU!

Please contact us and let’s get you started on a new adventure.
