PTA focuses on the education, safety and well-being of children and has been at the forefront of issues affecting children, parents and public schools. It is solely a volunteer organization and we need you! PTA membership is open to all adults who care about children and schools. There is absolutely no commitment when you join PTA; although we do hope you get involved by joining a committee, coming to meetings, or participating in PTA activities. You are extremely important to the success of your child's experience at Alderwood Middle School. So, let's work together and make this 2007-08 school year fantastic!

Volunteers Needed!

Can you believe it's almost the end of 2007-2008 school year?  AMS PTA is in need of a few vounteers
for:

  • End of the year audit (to be done sometime after 6/30) - need at least 2 people
  • Budget committee for next year's budget - need at least 4 people by next week!
  • Membership chair for next year -  need someone by the end of the school year

Please consider volunteering...it's a fabulous way to be involved.

Julie Mason
AMS PTA Pres.

Dear Parents,

I am gathering names for people willing to help with the 8th garde dance. Please let me know if you can help out AND please forward to others that are interested. Many of the items can happen on your timeline so if you are working like me you can do during your lunch, at night or on the weekends.

There are phone calls, some internet research, deciding on the theme, design invitations, address invitations, decorations, set up, help during the event, and clean up - just to name a few items.

This is one of the last events for the kids and any help you can offer for them would be great. I am planning a meeting in the next week or so. Once I know who is available to help I will send out another email with the details.

I have already booked thge DJ.
Event is June 13th from 7 to 9 at Alderwood Middle School.

Parents Advocating for Kids (PAK)
We are families, students, educators, and community members; anyone with an interest in supporting students with special needs within the Edmonds School District.

It is our desire to ensure every child, regardless of abilities, be prepared for a purposeful life.

Our goal is to assist families of children with special needs in navigating the education system; connect them with resources; and provide support. We strive to partner with educators and administrators in the development and implementation of equity and excellence in education for all students.

We are officially a part of the PTA in the Edmonds School District.
We need everybody that is interested in the education of his or her child with special needs to join.
We have meetings once a month at the Lynnwood Family Support Center, at corner of 64th Ave W & 195th St.    (next to Creation Station).
