Vision
Alderwood Middle will be a school that is academically excellent, socially equitable and developmentally responsive. We will have high standards for all students and staff.
Creed
To make Alderwood Middle School a place where we can all learn and reach our potential
it is our responsibility to:
- succeed academically,
- respect ourselves and others, and
- create a safe environment.
Mission
The Alderwood Middle School community is committed to attaining
high expectations, fostering a supportive environment and providing
effective instructional strategies so that all students will be
challenged to reach their highest potential intellectually, socially,
and ethically.
Beliefs
We believe all students will meet high academic and behavioral standards when there is a safe and nurturing learning environment, when instruction meets individual needs, and when family and community partnerships are strong.
In order to ensure that all students achieve their highest potential,
we believe that three key elements must guide all of our work:
Academic Excellence:
all students must be challenged to use their minds well, providing
them with the curriculum, instruction, assessment, support and time
they need to meet rigorous academic standards.
Developmental Responsiveness:
all students shall have access to small learning communities of
adults and students in which stable, close, and mutually respectful
relationships support all students' intellectual, ethical and social
growth.
Social Equity:
all students are capable of rising to high expectations and we commit
ourselves to helping each and every child produce work of high quality
